- Breast Lift With Implants FAQ
A breast lift with implants, or augmentation mastopexy, is the combination of two aesthetic procedures: the breast lift and the breast augmentation. This complex treatment is designed for women who want to reduce sagging in the breasts while simultaneously increasing their size. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anoush Hadaegh at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of North Shore performs breast lifts with implants for those who qualify.
What Is a Breast Lift With Augmentation Used For?
An augmentation mastopexy can be utilized to help women achieve a more youthful, feminine self-image in the following ways:
- Eliminating excess skin that is causing sagging
- Reorienting the nipples and areolas from facing downward to a “perkier” look
- Decreasing the size of the areolas and/or nipples
- Increasing the size and fullness of the breasts using silicone or saline implants
These symptoms frequently occur due to aging, significant weight loss, or pregnancy. They can affect both breasts equally or one more than the other.
Do These Procedures Have to Be Paired Together?
While Dr. Hadaegh may offer his expert advice based on his experience and your unique bodily contours, going ahead with any cosmetic procedure is always your final decision. Many patients only want to reshape the breasts and thus only choose the breast lift. Conversely, younger women do not typically need a lift, just an augmentation.
Can I Combine My Breast Lift With a Breast Reduction Instead?
A breast lift on its own will not decrease the overall size of the breasts; it will just reposition them. Rather than adding implants, some women might actually want a reduction in size. This is especially true when the weight of a patient’s breasts is causing back pain and mobility problems. Using a breast lift with reduction, Dr. Hadaegh reshapes and reorients the breasts, as well as removes breast tissue for a smaller volume.
What Happens During Breast Lift With Augmentation Surgery?
The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia to make sure you’re comfortable. The exact locations of the incisions are patient-specific. Still, Dr. Hadaegh takes great care to ensure that your scars are minimal and in secluded places, like around the areola and/or along the breast crease.
He can then remove any unwanted skin and readjust the internal breast tissue, usually inserting the implants through these same incisions. If necessary, the nipples and areolas are moved.
Post-Surgery Recovery
Once your surgery is complete, you’ll have bandages over your chest and will be given a surgical bra to wear to help your breasts adapt to their new shape and size. You may experience some swelling or minor discomfort during your initial recovery, but these should gradually subside as your body heals. Exact timetables for post-op care and healing, as well as returning to work and the gym, will be discussed in more detail by Dr. Hadaegh.
Cost of Breast Lift With Implants
The price of a customized treatment like an augmentation mastopexy is patient-specific. The typical aspects affecting this procedure’s cost include the shape of the breast (extent of the lift required), type of implants, any need for fat grafting, and others.

Where will my surgery take place?
Breast lift surgery is performed at either Beverly Hospital or North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital, under general anesthesia. The operation, itself, takes approximately 2-2.5 hours depending on your specific treatment plan. For a treatment plan involving a combination of cosmetic procedures, the duration will be longer.
After the breast lift surgery, the patient’s condition will be monitored until they are cleared to return home. We make sure to provide a comfortable environment for the patients until they can be safely released.
What is recovery like after breast lift surgery?
You could be sore with some swelling after surgery. Discomfort should begin subsiding after a few days, and swelling will gradually diminish over 4-6 weeks. Most patients return to work, driving, and normal basic daily activities within 7-10 days after surgery. Exercise and heavy lifting are restricted for about 4 weeks after your breast lift. If you decide to combine a breast lift with a breast augmentation, your recovery may be slightly longer.
It is necessary to follow the post-surgery instructions provided by our surgeon for a comfortable and smooth recovery. Patients can set up an appointment at any point during the recovery period if they have any concerns.
Will my breast size change from breast lift surgery?
No. Breast lift surgery removes excess skin but does not remove significant breast tissue in any way. If you would like to increase the size of your breasts, you can discuss combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation. This discussion would take place with Dr. Hadaegh during your consultation appointment.

Yes. There is a $150 consultation fee that is charged to you at the time you book your appointment. You will have a full hour with Dr. Hadaegh to discuss everything related to your procedure. Should you decide to move forward with your breast lift, the consultation fee will be applied as a credit to your total procedure balance.
